Teamwork makes the dream work.

When he began his entrepreneurial adventure back in 2000, Mike had a vision for an upbeat and hard-working firm. One by one he pieced together an amazing staff. He set his dial to “true north” and those values permeate culture at the firm today.

As a CPA in the public and private sector since 1986, Mike has guided solo-preneur start-ups, multi-location national companies, individuals, and generational families. He takes a special interest in mentoring accountants and staff to develop their capabilities. He is a long-standing member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA).

Mike’s incredible work ethic made the company what it is today. But, we also know where to find him when he needs a break. He’s in the mountains or the UP, often on horseback or with a bow in hand, or both. His recent trek in the Yukon was life-changing, but he can be equally inspired by an afternoon with his wife, kids and grandkids.

Benjamin J. Hauser, CPA

The most gratifying experiences come from fulfilling the role as a trusted business advisor.

As president of Northland CPAs, Ben is at the hub of everything that is going on. He is a shareholder, a member of the board of directors, and manager of taxation. He directs both Accounting and Attestation as well as General Business Services. Ben drives strategy and growth initiatives while always keeping mission and values on the forefront.

Ben joined Northland CPAs in 2011 after working in auditing for a national accounting firm in La Crosse and Minneapolis. He graduated with a bachelor of science in accountancy from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. Ben is a member of the WICPA and the AICPA.

When he’s not in the office coaching clients and team members, he takes it to the field as a volunteer coach for YMCA Flag Football, Hodag T-ball, and Little League. He is a member of FORK's (Feed Our Rural Kids) Tomorrow's Kids Endowment Fund Committee, treasurer of Rhinelander Little League, and a past member of the YMCA of the Northwoods Board of Directors. Ben is passionate about reinvesting in communities that have made Northland CPAs the firm it is today. You’ll find him involved in organizations that strive to ensure good schools, athletic programs and other programs for families and children.

And, on the weekends? It’s easy to spot Ben with four little kids under the age of eight. When he’s not busy enjoying time with his wife and children, you’ll find him fishing, hunting, and enjoying the great outdoors with friends.



Matt Whalen, CPA

Matt Whalen
CPA | Vice President and Director of Taxation

Our team motivates me every day as we continuously hold each other accountable to exceed our clients’ expectations.

Matt fosters client relationships through hard work and technical expertise – and goes to great lengths to ensure client satisfaction. As vice president, Matt promotes the professional growth of others while overseeing firm compliance and standards.

As director of taxation, Matt focuses on tax preparation and planning for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and fiduciaries. His accounting and attestation experience includes reviewing, compiling and preparing engagements. He has been an accountant and consultant to numerous businesses, large and small.

Matt began his career in the audit department of a regional accounting firm after earning his bachelor of science in accountancy from University of Wisconsin–La Crosse. He joined Northland CPAs in November 2011. He is a member of the WICPA and the AICPA.

Matt was awarded Rhinelander’s Top 10 under 40 for the positive influence he makes in the community. He is Treasurer of the YMCA of the Northwoods Board of Directors, a member of the Kiwanis Club, and Commissioner on the City of Rhinelander Police and Fire Commission.

When he’s not in the office you’ll find him spending time with his wife and two sons, or in the great outdoors hunting or fishing.



Mandy Hein, CPA

Mandy Hein
CPA | Secretary/Treasurer

I am passionate about helping small business owners manage the financial aspect of their business, helping to interpret financial information, and make informed decisions for the health and prosperity of their business.

Mandy’s first job was working for her uncle’s landscape company. She was just 15 when he introduced her to bookkeeping, payroll, and job costing and she was hooked. She went on to complete an associate’s degree from Nicolet College and joined Northland CPAs in 2005.

Since joining Northland CPAs, she completed her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Upper Iowa University, achieved her CPA, launched a membership in the WICPA and the AICPA, and established herself as an adjunct instructor at Nicolet College. She is a Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor and leverages technology to help her clients achieve their business goals.

Mandy’s early life exposure to hard working small business guides her every day as she manages various roles at Northland CPAs. Her clients appreciate the vast expertise she brings to payroll, sales tax, general bookkeeping, financial statement compilation, QuickBooks services, and corporate, partnership, and individual income tax.

Mandy chairs the Nicolet Accounting Advisory Committee and is a guest speaker for Nicolet’s Entrepreneurial Training Business Blueprint Course. She is treasurer for the Wisconsin Bison Producer’s Association, Inc., provides QuickBooks support for the Rhinelander Food Pantry as needed, and has provided volunteer bookkeeping services for Downtown Rhinelander, Inc.

When she’s not in the office you will find her spending time with her husband and two German shorthair pointers. She enjoys boating, four wheeling, and hunting.



Jordan Lenzner, CPA

Jordan Lenzner

Accounting and tax can be a frustrating and complicated topic to some. Breaking it down so our clients see how their business and personal situations shape out is rewarding.

Jordan’s ability to quickly problem-solve and translate tax and financial information into solutions helps his clients stay on track. He is a go-getter, having achieved both his CPA and QuickBooks Pro Advisor designations since joining Northland CPAs in 2016.

Jordan serves clients from our Woodruff office. He works with individuals and businesses with an emphasis on QuickBooks, payroll, and sales tax.

Jordan double majored in accounting and business administration at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. He interned in public accounting in college and then briefly worked in the financial services industry selling life insurance and investment advising. He made the switch back to public accounting in 2016. He is a member of the WICPA and AICPA.

When the snow is gone, you’ll find Jordan golfing at Timber Ridge and exploring other golf courses with friends and family. He enjoys the outdoors year-round and spends time outside the office fishing and hunting.



Shannon Campy, CPA

Success is the result of determination and effort.

Shannon thrives on the diversity of work and clients that Northland CPAs serves. As a CPA, she enjoys helping clients to better understand the accounting process, improve tracking systems, and run a better business. Shannon’s focus includes payroll, sales tax, financial statement compilation and preparation, review assistance, personal and business tax preparation, and tax research.

Shannon joined Northland CPAs in 2017 and achieved her CPA designation within the next year. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison Business Administration program, majoring in accounting and legal studies. Her past work experience includes health care benefits processing, food/customer service, and retail/customer service. She is a member of the AICPA and WICPA.

Shannon volunteers with the Rhinelander Community Foundation assisting with the treasury function. She is a native of Minocqua and enjoys spending time with family and friends. When not in the office you will find her at baseball/football games, kayaking, shopping, attending family get-togethers, and taking road trips across the country.



Bryan Kronberger, CPA

One thing that inspires me about my work is helping clients to understand accounting standards and plan for the impact these standards have on their businesses.

Bryan joined Northland CPAs at the start of 2020 after spending time as an audit associate with a Minneapolis firm where he specialized in manufacturing clients with a secondary focus in transportation and logistics clients. His work at Northland CPAs focuses on assurance and attestation, general business, and tax services.

Bryan grew up in Rhinelander with a hockey stick in hand and a dream of playing collegiate hockey. After finding success in the North American Hockey League, he played four years and captained the team for two years at Concordia College. It fulfilled two dreams, to play hockey and earn his bachelor’s degree.

Bryan went on to achieve his CPA in 2019. He is a member of the AICPA and the Minnesota Society of CPAs.

In his free time, Bryan enjoys playing hockey, hunting with his dog, and spending time with friends and family. He has an interest in youth hockey and was previously involved in Minneapolis Junior Achievement, an organization that helps underprivileged children.



Amy Wheeler, EA

EA | Senior Accounting Associate/Office Manager

I enjoy working closely with clients to help supply their accounting needs.

Amy has 10+ years of experience in the field of taxation. As an Enrolled Agent (EA) she is a federally licensed tax practitioner, providing expertise in the continually changing field of taxation and effectively represents taxpayers at all administrative levels within the IRS.

She joined Northland CPAs in 2008 and found her niche in general business services. Her expertise includes live and after the fact payroll, certified payroll, guardianship forms, sales tax, general bookwork, financial statements, business tax returns, and individual returns. Amy serves as Northland CPAs’ office manager, working closely with our management team to control the firm’s day-to-day operations.

Amy’s past experience in her family-owned business includes payroll, invoicing, and accounts payable. She also served as office manager for a farming operation for several years. Both opportunities prepared her to have a keen understanding of our client’s needs.

Amy holds her bachelor’s degree in accounting and forensic accounting from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. She received her Enrolled Agent Certification in 2019 from the Internal Revenue Service.

When she’s not working, Amy spends time in community outreach at local church, local school, and sports programs. She is the music ministry leader at Upper Room Family Church in Elcho, WI. She also served as secretary/treasurer for the Elcho Fire Department for 18 years.



Gosia Roszina

General Business Services Manager/Senior Accounting Associate

It’s the people I work with that make this place special – both coworkers and clients.

Gosia launched her accounting career at Northland CPAs in 2013 and is now the General Business Services Manager. Her expertise as a QuickBooks Pro Advisor makes her a “go-to” for new clients who need setup and training. Payroll, sales tax, financial statement preparation, and business tax preparation support are all areas where Gosia shines for our clients. She loves the variety in her work and the changing technological environment in accounting is an opportunity to continually enhance her expertise.

Gosia holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and human resource management from Upper Iowa University. Her education also includes a master’s degree in social work. With this unique background, she appreciates how her work touches peoples’ lives and enjoys helping people understand the “numbers” world.

Gosia is originally from Poland and came to the United States in 2004 as an exchange program student on a work visa. She fell in love with the potential opportunities in the US and now lives and works permanently in the US. Gosia was originally drawn to the region because of her love of the outdoors and environment. When she is not working, she spends her time hiking, traveling, and working out.



Sigrid Grabenhofer

A good reputation is your most important asset.

Sigrid began accounting work in 2015. Her experience includes individual, business, and nonprofit tax returns, month-end bookkeeping, payroll processing, and attestation services. Since joining Northland CPAs in 2020, Sigrid has focused on general business services.

Growing up in upstate New York, Sigrid used college as an opportunity to move to the Midwest. She graduated with honors from Wisconsin Lutheran College with a bachelor's degree in accounting. After five years in Milwaukee, Sigrid left her city life and now enjoys the Rhinelander area's natural surroundings.

When not in the office, you will find Sigrid walking in the woods and spending time with her husband, Adam. Having spent summers working at a glass museum, Sigrid has a unique knowledge of glass including its history, its origin and evolution over the centuries, as well as some of the science behind it!


Missy Huemphner

I am always willing to lend an extra hand when help is needed.

Missy is inspired each day by helping clients and coworkers to achieve their business goals. She joined Northland CPAs in 2016 and has over 15 years of public accounting experience. At Northland CPAs, Missy focuses on payroll, sales tax, bookwork, financial statements, and income tax preparation for both individuals and corporations.

Missy’s career includes 12 years of office management experience handling a variety of business and accounting functions. This client-side experience helps Missy to understand her client’s needs and effectively problem-solve solutions.

Missy is a native of Rhinelander and spends time, along with her extended family, helping area youth and families in need. When not working or volunteering, Missy enjoys reading, camping, and spending time with family and friends.


Melanie McDonald

Payroll & Bookkeeping Associate

Make every interaction count, even the small ones.

Melanie's customer-centric approach is grounded in over 17 years of customer service experience with five years of experience in the banking industry. As a payroll and bookkeeping associate, Melanie serves clients from our Woodruff office. She focuses on making life easier for our clients and is passionate about helping local businesses.

Melanie is currently completing her bachelor's degree in accounting and plans to obtain her CPA while working full-time. She is enrolled at Minnesota State Community and Technical College and will transfer to Bemidji State University to complete her education. She has been on either the President's List or Dean's List for all past semesters in school.

Melanie spent her childhood in Salem, Massachusetts, moved with her family to Pewaukee as a teen, and eventually made her way Up North in 2013. When not in the office, you might find her with a canoe paddle or fishing reel in hand, hiking, or traveling Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and two dogs.


Andrea Olds

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

Born and raised in Rhinelander, Andrea is inspired by helping others. She has been volunteering with her grandfather at Meals on Wheels through the Oneida County Department of Aging ever since she can remember.

As she launches her accounting career, she is committed to being a difference maker for her colleagues and clients. At Northland CPAs, she assists with payroll preparation, tax payments and forms, bookkeeping services for clients, and other projects.

Andrea was named to the Dean's List all semesters of college, was the recipient of numerous college scholarships and was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. She holds a bookkeeping technical diploma and will complete her associate degree in accounting from Nicolet College in the spring of 2021. Her goal is to work while obtaining her bachelor's degree and then go on to achieve her CPA.

When not working (or doing schoolwork), Andrea is happiest traveling, going on road trips, and sightseeing. She enjoys hiking and spending time with family and friends as much as possible.


Shirley Albrent

Treat people the way you want to be treated.

Shirley has been the on the Northland CPAs journey since its inception. In the last 20 years she has covered many areas of responsibility including office management, customer service, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, general accounting, electronic filing, and other administrative functions. Currently she serves as a Client Service Assistant providing vital services on select accounts.

Those who work with her know she truly enjoys helping others. It makes her day to know she helped someone accomplish something they may not have been able to do without her help. Although she has been with Northland CPAs for what seems like “forever”, she has also worked for a software startup company and held several factory jobs.

Shirley graduated on the dean’s list at Nicolet College with an associate’s degree in information processing/administrative professional and has taken extra classes in payroll and accounting.

When not working, she is happiest spending time with family – boating, motorcycle riding, traveling, reading, and camping. During the winter, she loves watching her grandsons play hockey and her granddaughter figure skate.

Ann Chadwick

I enjoy interacting with clients and assisting in whatever way I can.

Ann Chadwick is a bookkeeper/office manager located at our Woodruff office. She provides general office management, customer service, and bookkeeping, taking pride in providing excellent service with attention to detail. 

Prior to joining Northland CPAs, Ann served six years as the operations director for the Arizona Private Education Scholarship Fund maintaining accounting records, preparing state tax organization reports and providing customer service. Prior to that she worked at a private school in the athletic department and then became the administrative assistant for the school's support organization, assisting with the management of fund raising events, arranging teacher/staff events, and maintaining accounting records.

Ann feels fortunate to have many interesting positions that included executive secretary to a heart surgeon, executive secretary to the managing partner of an international accounting firm, administrative assistant at an accredited freestanding birth center and administrative assistant at a local church.

Ann holds an administrative secretarial diploma and attended Bryant & Stratton Business College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has served as secretary of the board of directors for the Little Arbor Vitae Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District.


When not in the office Ann enjoys spending time with family. If that can take place in a boat on the lake... all the better. She loves to cook, bake, and can fruit and vegetables. 

Nicole Maney

Client Service Assistant

Work hard, stay positive, but most of all – be kind.

Nicole brings deep administrative experience to Northland CPAs with a strong background in customer service. She joined Northland CPAs as a client service assistant in 2020, after spending nearly 11 years as a circulation manager with a national publishing company.

Nicole was born in the UP of Michigan and moved to Three Lakes at a young age. She graduated from Three Lakes High School and attended Nicolet College and the University of Wisconsin - Stout. She earned her certificate in Supervisory Management in 2009 and is working toward her business management degree.

As a part of Northland CPAs, Nicole enjoys interacting with clients. “I am happy when they are happy,” she explains. You will find Nicole meeting and greeting clients on the phone and in person, handling administrative duties around the office, and providing administrative support to CPAs.

An outdoor enthusiast, Nicole enjoys running, boating, hunting, golfing, and fishing. She is happiest spending time with her husband and their large English Mastiff dog and cat. She also loves spoiling her three nieces and nephew who live nearby.
